The Big South Fork, Tennessee

At the end of February, I came back to Tennessee with the Hoosier Canoe Club to run a pretty river...
the Big South Fork... (class II, III, IV)

I really enjoyed this river which was sweet, Scaring (sometimes), cold, fun, great to play, very nice... I paddled with great people... Humm... Everything that I like...

That's why I kayak!

Waiting for the people who drove the car to the take off

Getting ready to go!

Ready!

The hand of god...

First visitor from France...

Hello hello,

The first people who came to see me in Indianapolis were...
My supervisors and colleague from Veolia Environnement France!

It was funny to see them here.
We had different meeting with people from the University IUPUI and Veolia Water Indianapolis and I had to present my work which made me a little bit nervous...
My first official presentation could be worst... hahaha ;-)

We also took some time to go on the field and check if the reservoir was still frozen... and it was!

Even the river (Eagle Creek River) which come through the reservoir was frozen.

Country club....

Hello Guys,

One week ago I've been to a country line dance club with some kayaking and french friends...

from left to right: me, Susan, Audrey, Karen, Ronan

The kind of place where you really feel that you are in US... hahaha
Country music and Cowboy dress... in one second you are in Texas!
The country line dance is very complicated... 50 people are doing the same move in the same time...
I tryed for 10 seconds... that was terrible!

But there was something better than dancing in this place...
A mechanical bull!
I knew the rodeo kayak but never tried the original rodeo!

hihihi that was really funny!

Eagle Creek Trivia...

Hey buddies!

Here is a scientific riddle... héhéhé!

Today I went on the field to see how the Eagle Creek looked like in January....

I drove on the 56th street which cut the reservoir on the middle... and I've been surprised to see that the northen part of the reservoir was full of ice and snow and the southern part didn't have almost any...

Why?

Here is the northern part:

the water intake in the middle:

and the southen part:

plus... a little track under the snow... ;-)

Do you have any idea?

I would like to thanks everyone who took the time to go on this blog!

You have seen how was my life during the Week Ends....

The problem is that many people think that I am in holyday all the time and I don't work at all....!

Of course, this is wrong!

Do you remember what I am doing In Indianapolis?

I am working for Veolia Water which is the Indianapolis Water Company.

My project si in partnership with IUPUI (Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis)

I am working on 3D hydrodynamic model Of the Eagle Creek Reservoir in order to know how the water moves in the reservoir and then to try to improve the algea treatment in the reservoir!

Here are some pictures and animations of first results....

And for those who still believe that I am not working... this is me at work! ;-)
